The trick to being the best doctor in the neighbourhood is not necessarily your skills as a medical practitioner. There are thousand of wonderful professionals out there who simple don’t know how to talk to their patients when dealing with a patient complaint or simply going about an ordinary day at the clinic.

Effective communication, therefore, is the key to a successful medical career. Solving problems, avoiding misunderstandings and predicting the patient’s needs is something each doctor should be able to do. Trust will be developed if you patient feels secure sharing sensitive information with you and you will feel comfortable discussing all the necessary issues pertaining to the patient’s condition. Successful managing patient expectations is also a great skill you can learn by understanding what your patient feels. Never stop trying. Your patients will be grateful.
