How I found my perfect exercise at Down Doggie Yoga Studio

yoga_studio_san_diego2I’ve been trying to get rid of my excess weight after pregnancy for two years now. I nearly lost my cool trying to keep up with the demands of a baby, a working husband and my new (and very unwelcome) self-image. I have to say I gained so much during pregnancy – with the next one I will be watching myself big time. But right after I gave birth I started exercising.

I jogged. I swam. I bought 22 exercise workout DVDs (no kidding). I did strenuous exercises morning and evening every day. I was shrinking a bit but I was still overweight. Then I hurt my back doing sit-ups and had to wear a corset for two weeks – I gained 4 pounds without my routine.

Anyway, mother suggested yoga. I wanted to slap her. Where did I have the time for a yoga exercise class? But I gave in. I have to admit now that my mother is sometimes right (on extremely rare occasions). You won’t recognize me now. I’ve been doing yoga exercises for two months every day and I am a new person entirely. I am flexible and aware of each muscle and joint in my body. My back pain is gone for good – I am saving a fortune on painkillers. My tummy fat has vanished – I can’t believe it.

And most important of all, I am happy. I’ve learned to control my breathing. When my son acts up, I throw myself into my favourite yoga position and calm down. In all honesty, I would recommend yoga exercises to anyone who wants to be healthy and happy.

Keeping body, mind and soul at peace at Down Doggie Yoga Studio

yoga_2Staying in shape is vital for our health, important for our self-image and sometimes becomes a deciding factor in our career. It is also a wonderful means to overcome our everyday stress and take our mind off the always looming problems and issues. But is there a way to exercise not only the body but also set our mind at peace and nourish our soul? Of course. We are talking yoga today.

If you think you know everything about yoga exercises think again. Of course, you’ve heard about the practice a million times before. Who doesn’t remember the crazy yoga positions Madonna showed off in her videos? But the fact is that when it comes to serious hard-boiled facts of the beneficial effects of yoga exercises not everyone is aware of them.

It’s a universal fact that yoga exercises will make you flexible. But did you know that doing yoga will make your muscles strong just like weight-lifting or other strenuous workout? Because many yoga positions will make your body use new groups of muscles, the overall strength of your body will increase.

Believe it or not, yoga is a natural painkiller. Performed on a regular basis, yoga exercises will increase your lung capacity, and, provided they are done in the open air, will fill your body with oxygen. Yoga regulates the work of the central nervous system and reduces your stress levels. And last but not least, there is scientific evidence that yoga exercises result in an increase of self-confidence. Not to mention that yoga is one of those brilliant “green” ideas that help you find your peace, serenity and harmony with planet Earth. So what are you waiting for?
